1232-2 - Dentzel - $4500 - $4,250 - (Time payments available)
Circa 1900 second row wooden carousel figure from the Gustav Dentzel carousel factory in Germantown, near Philadelphia, PA. The prancer has a kind expression, glass eyes and a deeply carved fore swept mane. It is harnessed of an English style saddle, a plain blanket, a simple bridle and double straps on the shoulder and hip anchoring the dentillated breast band and breeching. A nearly identical horse can be found on the Weona Park carousel in Pen Argyl, PA. The horse presents in overall fair condition, all parts intact, the structure exhibiting minor seam separations and a surface having an old distressed polychrome paint history with chips and abrasions. 55 long x 61 high. 40 chest to rump.
