1234-1 - Dentzel - $16,000 - (Time payments available)
Showing great sensitvity of expression and a proud stance, this 1890s outside row stander created by master carver Daniel Muller during his employment at the Dentzel factory, became known as as the Dentzel Thoroughbred. A fancy buckled bridle restrains its glass-eyed head borne on an erect neck crested with a flowing mane and forelock carved in high relief. An English style saddle is girthed over an unusual blanket having incised flourishes; the chest is encompassed with a breastband of two straps joined by a third strap pinned with a boss; the breeching is carved to resemble embossed leather with smooth floral motifs. In very good condition, furnished with a genuine horsehair tail, stripped to reveal the natural wood and construction seams. Display stand included. 55" long x 61" high.
