1262-1 - Dare - $4500 - (Time payments available)
From the Looff circa 1909 mixed menagerie carousel parted out from Whalom Park, in Lunenburg, MA. In the jumping position, the all wood horse carries its delicate glass-eyed head on a gracefully arched neck with a long flowing mane having a flipped up forelock. A parrot cantle saddle rests on a fringed blanket while carved fringe and incised lozenges decorate the double breastband and matching breeching. The name "Marie" is painted on the bridle. The figure retains its step-up, bit and stirrup hangers and presents in the untouched paint and condition it possessed on its last working day on the carousel. 52 long x 56 high, 36 chest to rump.
