Lavishly ornamented antique carousel figure from the New York workshop of M.C. Illions. The large outside row jumper carries its tucked head on an arched neck crested with a windblown mane having a carved interstice. The English style saddle is furnished with a bedroll and tassels and is girthed over a bordered blanket. The chest is embraced with a breastband having a scalloped border inset with jewels and depending nicely carved jeweled peacock feathers. Breeching is composed of jewels and tasseled lappets while a strap of jeweled roundels circles the hip. In good condition, ready for final restoration and paint. 57 inches long x 58 inches high.
