Circa 1884 wooden carousel jumper by the Brooklyn, NY factory of Charles I.D. Looff. The horse carries its glass-eyed head raised on an upright neck crested with a cascading and flipped up mane. It is harnessed of a saddle with fringed skirt; a fringed blanket having a trailing tassel is strapped behind the cantle. The chest is encompassed by a double peytral, the upper layer scalloped and tasseled; a fringed and bordered blanket covers the croup. The head is restrained by a simple carved bridle with boss and bit. Very good restored condition, furnished with stirrups, leathers and a natural horsehair tail. 48 long x 48 High. Provenance: sold at auction, Guernsey's 1987, last operated in Keansburg, NJ.
