1495-5 - Looff - $6500 - (Time payments available)
Circa 1890s, from the Charles Looff carousel works and posed in an unusual pacing gait. An extended neck, crested with a flowing mane carved in high relief and accented with several interstices, supports a glass eyed head having flaring nostrils and a buckled bridle. The saddle with elongated cantle and double flap is girthed over a richly carved and fringed blanket. Further trappings include a double breastband composed of a deeply scalloped band layered over a grooved under stratum. Professionally restored in a palette of a dapple grey body with trappings in vibrant primary colors enhanced with gold. 51 long x 42 high, 37 chest to rump.
