1537-1 PTC Wolf - $27,500 - -
Circa 1906. The Philadelphia Toboggan Company wolf is a rare one indeed; his pack containing only one, or perhaps two, other individuals. Bristling with ferocity, this impressive Lobo is carved in a leaping stance, ruff stiffened in anger, glassy brown eyes glaring, snarling mouth revealing sharp fangs. His great fur detail is enhanced by a professional restoration in natural color. Uncluttered trappings in a subdued color scheme include a simple saddle with flap resting on a bordered blanket having intricate painted motifs engaging a tidy breast band. PTC #13 was his home during his working life, first operating at Luna Park in Hartford, CT, then Bailey’s Park in Norfolk, VA and lastly at Trier’s Park in Fort Wayne, IN. Parted out in 1973. Provenance: the Judy Tuttle Collection. 67 inches long.
