Circa 1914 all wood C.I.D. Looff carousel figure. Echoing figures from the Wilkes Barre machine this outside row stander illustrates the aesthetic of the best Looff carvings; a sensitive head on an arched neck crested with a finely detailed mane, a saddle with scalloped edged skirt girthed over a blanket having border of interlaced ribbons, the chest embraced with a breastband punctuated with roundels and depending tassels, the hindquarters with complementary breeching, and finally a huntsman’s horn, game pouch and blade. Excellent condition, wood restoration completed, now ready for paint. 58 inches long x 55.5 high.
