995-7 - Herschell-Spillman - $6500 - SOLD Circa 1915 outside row carousel horse from the Herschell-Spillman factory in North Tonawanda, New York. A wolf's head pelt secured by a wide girth with carved detail and a big buckle serves as a saddle on this unusual design presenting stripped of paint and in the natural wood. The horse has a tucked head bearing a decorative headstall with a jewel carried on an arched neck having a nicely flowing mane carved in high relief. Metal shoes and stirrup hangers. 61 long x 46 high. |
