| 1267-1 - Looff - SOLD Outer row all wood carousel horse from the 1909 Charles Looff menagerie carousel formerly located at Whalom Park, Lunenburg, MA. The sweet face swan neck jumper with a deeply carved cascading mane is harnessed of a simple saddle having a volute cantle issuing carved and leaved pomegranate fruit. The scalloped breastband and breeching are studded with six starburst mirror jewels within keepers. The glass-eyed head is restrained by a simple bridle, painted with the name"Bill" and having another starburst jewel and tasseled keeper. Measuring 59 long x 63 high x 50 body. The figure is is howing some seams, in the paint and surface condition it wore on its last working day on the carousel. Brass and cast iron stand included. |
